I used to distill spirits in a shed in my backyard. It was a fairly simple setup that slowly made some pretty decent stuff. I was never sure how legal it was to make your own so I was always a bit sketchy about people discovering it. Imagine my dismay then when one day I was driving home when I noticed two squad cars sitting outside the house with their doors open and lights flashing. I decided to keep on driving and find safe haven at nearby friends house. Eventually he decided he would go around "to visit me" and see what was going on.
20 minutes later I get a call from my buddy laughing his head off. Turns out that some kid broke into a house nearby and did a runner when the cops arrived. He decided he'd run through backyards and eventually hide in my shed (That will teach me to not forget to lock it) and the cops were trying to coax him out. Soon enough he came out and they took him away and thankfully the cops decided to turn a blind eye to my little operation. One of them told me it would probably best if he didn't mention what exactly the shed was for in his report. I took this as a hint to put an end to my distilling days and turned it into a tool shed a weekend later.
