My Grandfather was a pornographer.
Grandpa had polio before it was widely vaccinated, making one leg much shorter than the other. The result kept him indoors a lot and tinkering with electronics and he became very skilled at repairing things. He had a job as a traveling projector repairman, fixing up movie theater set ups and the like.
In Reno, Nevada, my Grandfather repaired the projectors in an adult movie house. He got along with the owner, becoming fast friends. Eventually he partnered with the theater owner and they also opened up a adult bookstore adjacent to the theater.
After my Grandpa passed away, I was allowed to pick through a bunch of the stuff he had left in my parents garage. I found many photo albums filled with black and white photographs that he had taken of various women in the nude. The photos were all signed by him on the back and meticulously dated and numbered. He had taken well over 3,000 photos, and that was just the ones he had kept. Nobody in my family has confirmed if he had sold these to magazines, but my guess is that he was a regular contributor, and was one of the early uncredited pornographers of the 70's and 80's.
